Hi there. I'm Rachael @ Northern Grin (http://northerngrin.blogspot.com). My blog is a mixture of rants about fat issues and rants about infertility.

Northern Grin comes from a lyric by Guillemots, who are one of my favourite bands. Being from the North of England (and being proud of that fact), I thought it was fitting for me. The lyric goes: "I love you through sparks and shining dragons, I do/And the symmetry in your northern grin".

I'm 24, I have been married for three years and I've been with JD since I was 16 years old. He is perfect for me - far from perfect but we have a great relationship. We are trying to have kids, but, well.

I am fat but healthy. I'm rarely sick, have never had any serious illnesses, and I go to the gym regularly. I hope to be a positive influence on others re health at every size. I am fairly early on in my journey of fat acceptance but I'm learning and I'm determined to stay on this journey. I don't hate my body. There's parts of it I dislike, but I don't hate it. Plus I have a gorgeous arse and damn nice breasts. I am determined to show others that fat doesn't equal body-hating.

I am a complete geek over music, and go to far too many gigs than is healthy. I'm lucky that there is plenty of live music where I live. I read and write fanfiction, although I plan on writing something "proper" one of these days. I like piercings and tattoos, and my music taste is a mix of indie and punk. I keep a regular written journal, and I love to read.

I live in Northern England in a teeny terraced house with my husband JD and our cat. We hope to move house pretty soon. I grew up one town over from here, but my husband is from even further North. It's nice here, I like it.

(These questions are really interesting!)

I did go to university; I graduated just before we got married. I did Theology and Religious Studies. I'm not a believer at all - I just find it endlessly interesting. My favourite part was Urban Theology which I believe is where Christianity should move to if it wants to stay alive. I am currently working as an accountant - no I don't know how I got
there either! I do enjoy it, though

I like quotes a lot. One of my favourites is "God does not play dice". I have to believe that everything happens for a reason, especially given recent tragic happenings in my life.

I'll leave it there for now. I'm going on holiday tomorrow, but I'll be back here once I'm back from leave :)

Hi Rachael, I'm so jealous you get to go to loads of gigs. If we had as many and awesome gigs over here like you do, I'd be there all the time. Where in Northern England are you? My boyfriend is currently working in Halifax and sort of getting used to the city.

Theology sounds very interesting. I'm not religious either (I'm agnostic), but lately I've been really interested in the history of Christianity, specially on Christian heresies. It's fabulous how many different interpretations and beliefs can come from a single story.

I'm not far from Halifax. I know it well! I love the Piece Hall there :) I usually see gigs in Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester, and I'm sort of in the middle of all three cities.

Exactly - so many different interpretations, it's fascinating to read.
