Kirstie Alley to get new weight loss reality show

Speaking of Jenny Craig spokescelebrities…  Oh, Kirstie.  Does your masochism know no end?

The former Jenny Craig spokescelebrity and once-again fat actress has a new weight loss reality television show coming out next year on A&E.  As CNN reports, the yet-unnamed series will follow Kirstie as “she juggles producing a feature film, sticking to a new weight-loss program and raising her two daughters True and Lillie, all while looking for love.”  I wonder if the same program Kirstie will be shown following is a not-so-subtle tie-in to the anticipated weight-loss brand she announced months ago.

The network has so far only committed to to half-hour episodes, begging the question: If Kirstie loses the weight in season one, will viewers tune in for a second?   Stay tuned for more of the Kirstie Alley “fatty-roller coaster ride.”

I don’t know what to think of her. She seems so confident, yet clearly has some issues. Or maybe she’s just desperate money and has found her niche. Whatever the reason, it really nauseates me the way she’s cheapened herself.

    Peace,
    Shannon

I read her tweets on Jezebel sometimes, and she just seems so insecure and sad. And really mean to herself.

Great. ‘Cause putting you personal life on TV is SUCH a good idea! Just look at Jon & Kate, or Nick & Jessica!
I think she needs to get off of Oprah’s couch and onto one belonging to a psychiatrist, so she can learn to love herself just as she is.

The reality is that she is too fat and too old by Hollywood standards to ever be a leading lady. It sucks but that is the real problem, not her weight. There is no place in Hollywood for a strong (at least she used to be), mouthy older woman who does not fit the mold. Rather than confront Hollywood (and most likely loose) she blames her weight rather than the system that only promotes thin, young, conventional actors. It is sad how she has reduced herself to her weight. I so wish she could direct her anger to where it really belongs.

Very sad. I suppose learning to eat intuitively and love your body just doesn’t make good TV. As someone said, she probably desperately needs the money. That Hollywood lifestyle costs a pretty penny.

I feel bad for her daughters. Seeing their mom hate on herself cannot be good for them.

I see how Kirstie Alley looks at “OMG 250 lb!!!!” and then I see her so skinny on reruns of Cheers, and I feel bad for her because I think of what she had to do to herself to be so skinny those years.

You could say that Kirstie Alley is more fortunate than most, despite the struggles she has with her weight. I’m sure there are many, many overweight girls who would love to have a little of the success she has enjoyed, but have been blocked either by discrimination or by their own lack of confidence. I don’t think Kirstie suffers very much from the latter!
