The-F-word gets blogging kudos from NEDA
I think its I who should be thanking NEDA for all the outreach and education they do. Still, it’s nice to occasionally be reminded and know that your time and efforts are well-spent.

Dear Rachel Richardson,
I am writing on behalf of National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) to commend the work you do on your website, http://the-f-word.org/blog/, to spread positive body image and awareness of eating disorders. Thank you for dedicating your time and energy towards this noble cause in order to help those who might be suffering from low self-esteem or eating disorders in a time when the increased pressures to be thin and to maintain an unrealistic image is higher than ever before.
In a thin-obsessed culture, low self-esteem and body image problems cultivate eating disorders. In the United States alone, nearly ten million women and one million men suffer from eating disorders. At NEDA, we are trying to reduce the prevalence of eating disorders by increasing awareness and helping those who are suffering from eating disorders through access to treatment referrals and a wealth of information. This letter is being sent to you as part of NEDA’s Media Watchdog program which brings attention to ads, commercials, and other media that promote body image issues or have products and slogans that could promote negative body images or eating disorders. Watchdogs also write letters of praise to media that instill positive messages about the body, such as your blog.
Thank you for using your website as a vehicle to increase awareness of eating disorders and promote positive body image.
Sincerely,
Jessica Anderson
