Beinggirl pulls article promoting eating disorders

Thanks to everyone who heeded the call for action and wrote in to www.beinggirl.com site sponsors Tampax and P & G about an article promoting eating disordered behavior to young girls. The article has now been removed, but you can still read the sad and tragic comments it elicited from its young demographic archived on a follow-up post I wrote here.

It amazes me to see how effective we all are when we band together in defense of a common goal. And it saddens me to realize just how many battles out there exist that need and require our efforts.

Oh thank goodness!!! Now if only they’d put up something telling the girls why….. (yeah, I know, wishful thinking).

We can cause small changes, maybe eventually we’ll be a force big enough (yeah, the pun, I went there) to really be heard!

For now I’ll just breathe easier that there’s one less negative, nasty thing out there that my girls could have possibly seen! Not here, as beinggirl is blacklisted on our firewall now (cannot be accessed without the administrator password), but I can SO see schools allowing that site as “appropriate” or the library, etc allowing.

Little things can make a big difference. I found this quote a few days ago and it really applies, plus it cracks me up.

If you think you are too small to be effective, you have never been in bed with a mosquito.
