Eat more veggies, win an iPod

posted in Vegetarianism |

The vegan organization Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine is offering a drawing of an Ipod to those who take and pass along its pledge to move towards a more vegetarian diet. I have reservations about some of the goals of the organization and the methods by which its members seek to achieve those goals, but I absolutely believe a vegetarian diet to be not only the most healthy diet available, but the most moral, too. Take the Veg Vow today.

Look out for the Veg Vow contest’s fine print: It’s not enough to take the pledge; you have to pass it along to at least one of your friends and family, too.

Hey, I should sign up and try to win my iPod. I don’t really eat that much meat anyways, but now circumstances are pushing me more vegetarian every day … I’ve just moved into a new neighborhood and have yet to find one store with a meat department that doesn’t make me back away in disgust. Fortunately, I’m well stocked with veggie cookbooks, so it’s not as though I’m going hungry or anything, but it’d be sweet if I could win an iPod for my trouble!

I’m already a veggie and I have an ipod dammit:)
The vegetarian diet makes sense to me ethically (for the animals and the environment) and from a health point of view. It is the only diet I can morally live with, not that I’m into judging meat-eaters.
The funny thing is that when I started eating this way everyone thought it was for weight loss. Eight years on, I haven’t lost weight and I feel great. Oh and I don’t need a book when I go to the toilet, if you know what I mean ;)
